Marla Milne
has spent her professional career interpreting ideas and images as a graphic designer; motion graphics animator; and computer artist/producer. After moving to the North Fork in the late 90's she turned her focus to representational painting as a way of celebrating the magical beauty of the Peconic Estuary and its environs.

"I am overwhelmed by the luminance and color that infuse the passing hours and different seasons here on the North Fork. I've traveled and lived in Latin America and Europe; but the quality of light that imbues the atmosphere of the East End with its magical aura is where I find my greatest inspiration. The constant challenge is to distill a transitioning atmosphere into one moment of color, light, and shadow in such a way that the viewer shares my wonder."

Marla holds a BFA from Washington University of Fine Art, St. Louis and continues studies in painting and drawing at The School of Visual Arts and The Art Students League as well as with local painters. When she's not painting Marla enjoys sailing the bays with her husband on Swany--a classic sloop designed by Carl Alberg.
