Carrie Wood
is a Fiber Artist and Mom whose spirit currently resides in two realities: the crowded and busy life of Suburban Nassau County and the calm and beauty of Shelter Island, NY. In the few quiet moments when she is not caring for her family, she creates one-of-a-kind handspun yarns, wet felted 'wearable art', knitwear and jewelery from unique fibers.

Carrie works with many natural fibers, but her current favorite is wool, a versatile and renewable resource. She supports small farms and other independent artists when sourcing supplies, and tries to leave a light footprint on the earth with her creative work.

Carrie's influences include her experiences as a mother, her formal training in landscape design, love of gardening and plants, and an occasional journey into the realm of science fiction. She takes great joy in bridging the gap between the past and present, by using traditional fiber arts techniques to create innovative designs for contemporary culture
