There is beauty in all that surrounds us. Caught up in the daily routines
of our lives we often fail to witness and respond to the complex patterns in
nature and the simple, yet astounding interplay of light and shadow.
I can't recall a time when I didn't own a camera and enjoy taking pictures.
Those early shots weren't art by any means, but rather the beginning of a life-long
love affair with the possibility of being able to capture something as special as
the fleeting, perfect moment of a sunrise or sunset.
When I am able to get out before dawn, there is a level of peaceful anticipation
that I can get lost in until the light is too strong to continue. When I go out in
the late afternoon I find myself racing north & west to capture the last possible
light so the day won.t end too soon. I am addicted to the sights around me and am
very happy to live here on the North Fork where I find the light to be very special.
When you look at the work that I feel is good enough to share, I hope you can see
the joy that the experience has given me.
My formal education included Art studies & education, but my photography was
self-taught. I am a mother & grandmother, office manager and owner/manager of
Winter Harbor Gallery. I share my life and work with my best friend, life partner,
gifted Designer & Artist Ian Fairweather.
